Cloth Hall Court
Leeds, LS1 2HA
The official conference hotel is the Principal Met Hotel. Double/twin rooms are available for £70 per night (single occupancy), bed and breakfast, available for up to three nights. Double occupancy is £80 per night. The hotel also has free wifi. There is no special code: to get this rate, please telephone the hotel to make your reservation (0113 245 0841) and inform them that you are attending the Weight Stigma Conference at Leeds Beckett University and we have a group rate. Overseas attendees should email the hotel at MetReservations@hotelmetleeds.co.uk and provide the same information.
If you need somebody to share with, you could try asking on our Facebook event page. If you are travelling alone and don’t mind sharing, and are in a position to do so, we also gratefully receive ‘donations’ of a spare bed in a twin room to help with financial costs for people who may struggle to attend the conference otherwise.
Flight advice for higher-weight individuals
There is a Facebook group called Flying While Fat, started by activist Stacy Bias. You may be able to get some tips and ideas here. Also, the website Seat Guru allows you to find out details of seats, widths, leg room, access and other issues by airline and plane type.
The conference venue is accessible to disabled users, and the rooms we have booked have free-standing arm-less chairs and tables. Please contact us if you have any concerns or requests.
We have created a Facebook event page for the conference. Feel free to use this page to ask questions, share tips and ideas, or look for people to share a room with.
